Reduction of cannibalism in agricultural enterprises

The Misma company organized and conducted production experience on the use of the Misma GABA feed additive in the diets of piglets during rearing. The experiment was conducted at the SFD of Russia enterprise in 2021.

The aim of the experiment was to determine the effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) on the zootechnical indicators of piglets and on the level of cannibalism among animals.

GABA, being the most important inhibitory neurotransmitter of the central nervous system, not only has a strengthening effect on the nervous system, but also affects the appetite, immunity and behavior of the animal. GABA reduces the feeling of satiety, stimulates the production of gastric juice and the secretion of digestive enzymes, and also fights oxidative stress.

The results of the experiment showed a significant increase in live weight gain with an increase in feed intake, as well as a decrease in the number of injured and damaged animals. At the same time, it is noted that positive indicators were achieved with a relatively low dosage and short-term use of the feed additive.
