Medium chain fatty acids (FFA) are currently widely used due to their positive effect on the health and productivity of farm animals and poultry.
According to scientific research, alpha-monoglycerides of these fatty acids (especially alpha-monoglyceride of lauric acid = alpha-monolaurin) have 27 times greater antibacterial activity and antiviral effect.
Alpha-monolaurin has a mechanism of action similar to lysozyme: it is able to penetrate into the cell wall of the bacterium, thereby violating the integrity of the cell, which leads to its destruction.
Misma ML40 is an alpha-monoglyceride of lauric acid, active against Gram-positive bacteria and lipid-coated viruses.
Alpha-monolaurin actively works in all parts of the gastrointestinal tract, without splitting in the liver and circulating in the blood stream.
Alpha-monolaurin has a similar structure to the phospholipid part of the shell of gram-positive bacteria and viruses (with a lipid shell). It is able to penetrate into the cell wall of a gram-positive bacterium, thereby violating the integrity of the cell, which leads to its destruction.
